Random: Flowers

Eeeep, I'm attempting to grow these miniature roses for the first time, that I got as a gift. The colour is so pretty but don't seem to have a lot flowering and it's growing outwards rather than upwards. I read somewhere that the soil has to be moist with good drainage under the pot and keep in a bright room. It's actually really hard ! I hope that I can manage to keep these around, instead of it withering away, from me being a noob at looking after plants. >.<
